Search under way in Christchurch suburbs for missing woman Shirley Warrington
Police search and rescue teams are being sent into several Christchurch suburbs to search for missing woman Shirley Warrington.
The 85-year-old was last seen on Main South Rd in Rolleston about 7.30pm on Saturday.
A police spokeswoman said they had reason to believe she may be in the Ferrymead, Heathcote, or Horotane Valley Rd areas and asked residents to check their properties, including bushes, outbuildings, and tree lines.
Search and rescue teams would be deployed in these areas on Monday afternoon to search public areas, but the public’s assistance was being sought to search residential properties as soon as possible, she said.
Warrington would likely be disorientated and confused, and was not dressed for the cold weather.
Christchurch reached a low of -4.9 degrees Celsius at 8am on Monday as temperatures plummeted across the South Island overnight.
Anyone with information that may help police find Warrington is asked to call 111 and quote event number P047149632.
