Are you aware that over the lifetime of a standard mortgage you will very likely pay as much or more interest than the amount you actually borrow? Or that by using standard bank tools, it is possible to halve the cost of the interest charged on your mortgage even for those on a modest income?
Money not spent on mortgage interest increases your cash flow and enables you to pay off your debt much sooner than you could have dreamt.
The Halswell Community Project has asked Linda Hart to come and talk to us about mortgages and the different ways in which they are, and can be structured.
Linda has 14 years’ experience helping people to reduce their debt. She is happy to share her knowledge and answer questions. If the concept interests people, she offers a further free consultation and analysis of your personal mortgage situation , so you can assess whether you want to use her assistance and see a brighter future.
Date: Tuesday 14th February – 7.30- 9.00pm
Venue: Koaro Room at Te Hapua.
Cost: $3 to cover the cost of the room hire.
Bookings: Numbers are limited, so to insure you get in, please book a place by contacting Chrys on chrys.horn@xtra.co.nz or 027 286 8653 to reserve a place. Enquiries welcome.

This one is pretty simple. You're a Neighbourly member so connecting with your community is obviously pretty important to you. So this tip is more of a challenge; this year (or this weekend!) make it your mission to meet someone new living near you.

Here's a few things you can do to get you started:
- use the Neighbours Directory to find neighbours on your street.
- introduce yourself on Neighbourly to those living in your neighbourhood. Just a few words about yourself and what brought you here.
- Give something away or sell something! A Neighbourly exchange gives you a chance to meet someone new.
- just head out the door and knock on someone else's!
______
Remember 86% of Kiwis want to get to know their neighbours better, but just don't see them around much (71%). Take the first step!

We hope that they match your letter box as much as they did ours. You could have asked us where we got them from (Bunnings)and we could have told you that these are no longer available. Sorry they are bit marked and the one you took last night is broken but we think The Press delivery man liked using them as target practice. We did use to have 3 but one did not survive all the hits.We are not sure how much longer the battery will last as they have been there for over 12 months. Enjoy them like we have and we hope that they look just as good at your place as they did ours.
