Vandals target Sparks Park
Vandals have attacked trees in a Carterton park.
Trees in Sparks Park have been cut and poisoned, leaving 82-year-old Carterton pensioner Bill Knowles heart-broken.
What breaks his heart is that some of the trees were memorials to fallen soldiers and treasured pets.
“What has the culprit gained by doing this? I was hugely saddened and I wondered if it was even worthwhile to carry on being involved with the park,” Knowles said.
Knowles runs a trust that has looked after the park for 20 years.
