Volunteers needed for Safari Multicultural Playgroups

Do you have an interest in the Early Childhood Environment? Would you like to join our Safari family as a volunteer and work with refugee and migrant background families?
We are currently recruiting volunteers to help at our morning sessions in Papatoetoe, Lynfield, Henderson and Panmure.
Tasks include setting up play areas, interacting with the families and children, preparing morning fruit, and packing down the playgroup every morning.

The volunteer will work directly with the Playgroup Coordinator to create an inclusive community playgroup where parents, grandparents and caregivers can come together and be part of a community.

Requirements:

A love of children and a desire to work in childcare. Have a can-do attitude and good communication with a friendly personality. As the volunteer will be working with young children a Police check will be required.

Time commitment:

We would require our volunteer to come at least two day per week from 9am-12pm . We are looking for an ongoing commitment for this role. Each playgroup runs for three days per week.

Getting started:

The first step is to express your interest by email to Shoma Prasad, Safari Playgroup Manager on communications@arms-mrc.org.nz or call on 09 625 3095

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
