Photo 1: Blackjack! In my rose garden among the other pansies. 😃 Spotted yesterday, just had time to photograph these flowers today. 😃 Photo 2: Hollyhock! Up against my pink fabric pansy shade. 😃 Photo 3: Yellow rose! 😃 Photos 4 & 5: A little lobelia flower I spotted in the pansy garden today! It only took several months' waiting for them to flower after planting the seeds - twice. 😛 It's the blue Crystal Palace variety. 😃

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
