NEW VENUE for Going West Books and Writers Festival!
Join some of the country’s best-known writers at the Going West Books and Writers Festival weekend. 8-10 September we'll be at Waitakere Central, 6 Henderson Valley Road, Henderson.
Audiences will be treated to a key note address by Rod Oram. Featuring Catherine Chidgey, Anne Salmond, Witi Ihimaera, Diana Wichtel, Bill Manhire, and Selina Tusitala Marsh. C.K. Stead examines the literacy legacy of Allen Curnow; Steve Braunias tells us how he Ate Lincoln Road and Colin Hogg Hits the High Road.
Come along on 8-10 September to WAITAKERE CENTRAL*, West Auckland’s Civic Building in Henderson. Located at 6 Henderson Valley Road, it has plenty of parking, is right next to the Henderson Railway Station and is directly behind the main Henderson shops. We look forward to seeing you there!
* Please note this is a change of venue to what has been advertised previously. The roof of the Titirangi War Memorial Hall caught fire on Saturday 19 August and is out-of-action for now.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
