Onehunga's Cardboard Boat Race

lashams@orcon.net.nz from Aotea Sea Scouts

Just three more days to go

Registrations for the cardboard boat race close on 2nd February, so if you are halfway through your build and haven’t registered yet, then do so today. If you are still considering a build, then register today, as you still have time to complete it and get in the race.

Some great prizes are being provided by Hunting and Fishing Botany, who have sponsored prizes in all the previous cardboard boat races. These will be awarded for the best-looking boat and fastest crossing of Onehunga Lagoon.

The Cardboard Boat Race is taking place at the Onehunga Lagoon, at the Onehunga Festival, 1st March 2025. Entry cost is $23.
Get your registration in now to avoid missing out.

You still have time to design and build your boat, which can be made with cardboard and/or core flute (the stuff used by our elected members for their campaign signs). No other materials, such as wood, plastic, etc, should be used. Duct tape and glue can be used to join sections of your boat together, and it should be brightly painted to ensure waterproofing (especially if using cardboard).
