Our children on the roads tomorrow morning
Hi everyone,
My name is Brett Bishop and I am the Chairperson for 2 of our local schools.
As everyone knows our precious children return to school tomorrow morning and will be out on the roads in large numbers for the first time in weeks. Among other things, they'll be excited about getting back to school, and seeing their friends and teachers again! Coupled with the fact that they haven't had to share the roads with vehicles for quite some time they may be a little less predictable than normal.
Given these circumstances can I ask drivers who pass through school zones or see children out and about to be extra careful over the coming days and weeks while we all readjust to busier roads.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and thinking about being more vigilant on the roads over this time.
Poll: 🗑️ Would you be keen to switch to a fortnightly rubbish collection, or do you prefer things as they are?
Aucklanders, our weekly rubbish collections are staying after councillors voted to scrap a proposed trial of fortnightly pick-ups.
We want to hear from you: would you be keen to switch to a fortnightly rubbish collection, or do you prefer things as they are?
Keen for the details? Read up about the scrapped collection trial here.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
