Careers Workshop: 3 Sessions

Are you in unskilled work? Are you unemployed or under employed? Are you trying to chose the right career? Are you a recent school leaver? If so, you’re invited to attend our series of 3 FREE Sunday evening workshops to help get you on the right path to a satisfying and worthwhile career.

Session 1: My personality and skills - what’s the best career for me and what are my options? You will be given a career inventory to complete and we will help you look at various career options. BYO internet capable device to this session if you have one (laptop, iPad, tablet, smart phone etc). 20th May, 6pm - 8:30 pm

Session 2: Guest speaker from a University / Polytech / apprenticeship expert to give you advice as to what courses are available, fees involved, scholarship applications and best options for you. Assistance in filling in application forms will be given. 10 June, 5pm - 7:30 pm

Session 3: Improving or writing your CV - a practical session with experts to help you prepare your CV and make it outstanding so that you get noticed when applying for work. Bring along your CV and device if you have one, so you can prepare your CV during the workshop and print it at church ready to apply for a job or apprenticeship. Devices will be provided for those who need them. Computer help will be available throughout the session. 17th June, 6pm - 8:30 pm

I've attached the December newsletter for you.

A snippet from Don , there's plenty more about holiday safety in your home - having Xmas available through your windows, check encryption notes when purchaisng on line - use paypal or cr. card rather than debit cards or bank transfers. Keep your receipts for purchases in case of theft.
How to avoid car break-ins and there's lots on information in this newsletter & the stats for Onehunga's crime incidents - e.g. 10 " theft ex car" - please stop leaving valuables in sight, take them with you. !!
Now ...some good news.....
On a whole, reported crime for Onehunga specifically relating to burglary and vehicle crime has trended low each month for the whole of 2025 compared to previous years with some of the lowest months on record for these offence.

Poll: Should we be giving the green light to new mining projects? 💰🌲

The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.

We want to know: Should mining projects like this move ahead?
