'Deep grief' over Waitākere track closures
Auckland Council has been given a feedback report based on the community's view on balance between kauri protection and recreation for the Waitākere Ranges track re-opening plan. The report found over half wanted more access to tracks, while many wanted access in less time than the plan proposed. Council said the purpose of the report was to identify which tracks the community felt should or should not be opened so it can make amendments to the plan. However, the one consistent message was that residents deeply care for and treasure our forests.
