Matariki is the group of 9 stars in the galaxy known as the Pleiades star cluster and is often referred to as the 9 sisters. It marks the celebration of the Maori New Year which is a time of renewal. On our celebration at Sandringham CC, we will be making harakeke flax stars retelling stories and sharing kai to eat. The storytelling will inform our Albert Eden community of the celebration of Matariki and you are all very welcome to join us !

They will be holding a full weekend of social dancing events next week, with entry fee proceeds going to HELP Auckland to support survivors of sexual abuse and help prevent abuse in the community.
Each night will showcase different genres of Latin dance.
Come along and flaunt your fancy footwork or just have some fun and dance the night away.

We collected a pet cage from The Vets yesterday so we can take it and have it checked for a microchip. Unfortunately, we were unable to capture it, as soon as it saw the cage, it would escape.
Question: would any good neighbour own a scanner, live nearby that could instead come to my place and scan it for a microchip? The cat is quite friendly and it loves pats but it just freaked out as soon as it saw the pet cage😔

They do not know what happened to their son, and they’re desperate for answers.
“We don’t know what’s happened,” Catherine said. “We realise he is perhaps in another place.”
But the couple remain hopeful that Eloi is alive and well and said they would always be there for him.

During winter, a bed is a sanctuary from the cold – and diseases that come with it. A bed for Ben, and tamariki like him, would mean a warm and good night's sleep so they can stay healthy and concentrate at school.
