Calls for Waitākere Hospital upgrades as patients drive 40km for care
Kia ora neighbours, West Aucklanders say they’re travelling more than 40km to access cancer treatment and certain surgeries.
A petition started by community organisation Waitākere Health Link is calling on the Ministry of Health to commit urgent funding to upgrading services at Waitākere Hospital including more beds and theatre expansion.
Waitākere Health Link chairwoman and Waitākere ward councillor Linda Cooper said many people in the community were having to travel to North Shore Hospital for treatment.
