Nor-west Community Patrol recruits rookies
Calling community minded citizens - the Kumeu police want you!
The Nor-west Community Patrol Trust is seeking more volunteers.
About 50 drivers cruise the streets of Kumeu, Taupaki, Riverhead, Waimauku, Muriwai, Woodhill and Huapai.
They help Kumeu police by observing the neighbourhood and acting as a visual deterrent to criminals.
The trust is looking to boost the ranks with "enthusiastic, community-minded people" prepared to volunteer once a month or more often.
Patrollers act as the eyes and ears for police because they can't be everywhere at once.
Police will give ongoing support and training to new recruits.
Volunteers can enquire at Kumeu Police station, phone Colin Strong on 0226748238 or (09) 4129171, or Jan Henderson on
0272817676 or (09) 4129818.
