Auckland Council has alerted beach-goers to 39 city spots that have a "high risk" of illness from swimming.
The warnings come after yesterday's deluge of rain that overloaded parts of the storm and wastewater networks. A black alert indicating a very high risk of illness from swimming was issued for Castor Bay just after 3pm yesterday.
It's recommended that people do not enter the water while the warnings are in place.

A recent addition to Titirangi Village, The Base Cafe is doing something a bit different ... We're a community cafe started by a group of locals who wanted to provide a friendly creative hub. The cafe features live acoustic music and exhibitions of work by local artists. The two chefs provide the usual cafe favourites as well as super-healthy options including vegan dishes and a variety of sweet and savoury hemp-based meals and snacks. We're now holding evening musical events including our Burgers and Beats nights, featuring DJs and live music. Do come and meet the team, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy our lovely bush views! Please check out our Facebook page for upcoming events.
