Floating restaurant coming to Auckland
A pop-up restaurant with a sky-high twist is coming to Auckland. Dinner in the Sky is an international concept restaurant that takes its diners to new heights and will be suspended 50 metres in the air above The Cloud on Queens Wharf. From November 29th to December 17th, seven daily flights will take guests up for brunch, lunch, dinner and wine and cocktail tasting with a view. Launched in Belgium 11 years ago, Dinner in the Sky currently operates in more than 50 countries worldwide, including Tokyo, London and Paris. Now it's Auckland's turn to host the high-concept eatery."New Zealand's food and restaurant scene has really come along in the past few years," says co-director of Events in the Sky, Steve Chung. "It just felt like the right time to bring our concept over and give local foodies and adventurers an opportunity to try a totally unique dining experience. I think Aucklanders are a pretty open bunch, so I'm super excited to see how they take to the concept." Celebrity chefs are one of the restaurant's most enticing features, and its visit to New Zealand will be no exception. Some of the country's most esteemed chefs will be cooking at Dinner in the Sky, including Simon Gault, Gareth Stewart and Phil Clark and diners will be able to watch them work their culinary magic. "Unlike most restaurants where chefs are hidden away in the kitchen our chefs cook and create their food right in front of the guests, providing a rare opportunity to see these masters at work," says Dinner in the Sky founder Steve Chung. Tickets for seven daily flights over the three-week run are now available, with one brunch trip, two lunches, one wine tasting, one cocktail session and two dinners taking place each day. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
