"Li Ka-shing" scam
On 26 May a Lynfield resident received a chatty e-mail that began: "Hi,
My name is Li Ka-shing, a philanthropist and the founder of Cheung Kong Holdings..."
The email was supposedly from the Li Ka-shing foundation but with the most unlikely address of info.email@qq.com. It said that due to a random act of kindness, Li was giving him US$1.2 million out of the goodness of his heart. Etc etc.
Eventually, the person(s) operating this scheme left the following contact details:
091 959-943-0913 (tel no in India, supposedly of Dr Shri M.K. Bhattacharya, Regional Director, United Bank of India, Kolkotta; and
Paul Christopher Ronald, who had a "Money Gram" account in New Delhi, into whose account an "opening deposit" of US$200.80 was first to be made.
No reply was received after the Lynfield resident asked for further identification of the said "Paul Christopher Ronald."

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
