Marlborough Park Hall refurbishment complete
Building work at the old Marlborough Park Hall to transform it into a new youth-focussed facility is now complete.
Completed works include the construction and installation of a new kitchen and bathrooms, realignment of existing rooms, extension of the northern deck, better heating and insulation, new wiring and improved access and surrounds.
Kaipātiki Youth Development Trust (KYDT) will run the new facility, and will begin to move into the new building in late December.
Priorities for the centre include improving youth health and employment readiness. KYDT intend to run a range of youth focused events, services and programmes to achieve this. The Trust is aiming to open the facility’s doors to the community and host an opening celebration event in February 2017.
The upgraded facility also has hireable spaces available for the wider community to book and utilise. A key theme in community feedback on the local board’s draft local board plan was to provide better spaces for youth. This project delivers on the board’s plan aspiration to develop a community-led youth facility.
