Water safety warning: Swim at patrolled beaches, Surf Life Savers say
Hi neighbours, there have been more preventable drownings in Auckland so far in 2019 than at the same time last year - and Surf Life Saving New Zealand are now urging Aucklanders to swim at beaches patrolled by life guards during summer, such as Piha, Muriwai and Bethells, in a bid to prevent more tragedies in the water. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
