Inland Revenue says that it is unable to accept calls due to "high demand" at its contact centres.

Brian from New Lynn

The department said on its website this afternoon that it was unable to take calls from those who had queries about income tax, who wanted to update their details or needed an IRD number. It is reported that the IRD was accepting calls on other topics such as GST, KiwiSaver and student loans, and from people who wanted information on employing people, but there were wait times of up to 43 minutes. The IRD is still accepting messages through its MyIR website.
