Colourful "swan" plants for a nectar-rich garden (cheap)

Special offer of tropical milkweed plants, alternative to swan plant with colourful flowers - great for nectar for butterflies and bees 🐝 too.

These plants are in great condition, some flowering now, between 10 cm and 30 cm tall. Both Asclepias curassavica Silky Gold (with yellow flowers) as well as A. curassavica Silky Scarlet (scarlet flowers with gold centres). Plants are perennials, lasting 2-3 years and can grow to 1.5 metres and 2 metres wide.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
