Police puppy named: Auckland

Caryn Wilkinson Reporter from Community News

Police asked and you responded.

Members of the public have helped to christen Auckland Police's new puppy Etu.

Police appealed to the public last week for suggestions for a name starting with E for their latest canine recruit.

People were quick to come up with names.

Echo, Ernie, Eddie and Ezra were top contenders but officers were taken with the name Etu.

Explore Auckland’s street art by bike to win $1000 worth in prizes

Ripu Bhatia Reporter from Auckland Stuff

Hi neighbours,

An exciting way to stay active during the Covid-19 lockdown, explore Auckland and win prizes has arrived in the form of the Street Art Bike Challenge.

To participate people simple need to snap a photo of themselves, their bike, a piece of street art, and share the photo with the hashtag #streetartbikechallenge.

The event will run throughout October and aims to encourage people to cycle around the city and stay active throughout the Covid-19 lockdown.

It is being hosted by EcoMatters Bike Hubs, who have compiled a map of over 200 street art pieces around Auckland to get people started.

Over $1000 worth in prizes are up for grabs. Will you be participating in the Street Art Bike Challenge?

You are invited to the Pest Free Kaipātiki AGM

The Team from Pest Free Kaipātiki Restoration Society (Inc.)

We warmly invite all members and supporters to our PFK Annual General Meeting. Please come and celebrate what we have achieved together over this past year!

With the current restrictions in Auckland due to COVID-19, we will be holding it online and we'd love for you to join us!

The formal proceedings will be followed by our guest speaker, Philip Moll, who will be speaking on ‘Defending Safe Habitat - Keeping our Estuaries Safe for Wildlife’ and showcasing images of many of the amazing shorebirds, some resident and others that migrate to our local estuaries, and the challenges we face to keep their habitats protected.

For more information and meeting details, please visit our website or our Facebook event linked here (read more).

Please note - when it is safe to do so, we plan to hold a separate, in-person event, to recognise and celebrate the efforts of our supporters and volunteers. More details will be available when we have them.

Who’ll get my record collection?

Public Trust

We all have special things we want to protect and share with the people we love when we pass away. It could be your record collection, perhaps some artwork, or even that classic car you’ve spent so long restoring. If it’s important to you, put it in your will.

An up-to-date will is the best way to protect your legacy – and your prized possessions.

If you last made a will when disco was all the rage, it’s time for an update.
