Weeded out a lot of moth plant and woolly nightshade this morning. Do you know of any other sites? Help conquer these noxious weeds.
The Pest Free Kaipatiki pest plant hit squad met some lovely people in Taurus Crescent this morning. We helped them remove lots of moth plant and woolly nightshade and started on some privet. Hopefully those people prone to asthma and privet allergies will sleep a bit better. We also cleared wild ginger and other weeds from the reserve behind Taurus Cres.
But there's still a lot of moth plant and woolly nightshade - some behind a locked gate. Please email PestPlants@pestfreekaipatiki.org.nz if we missed yours and you need help with it. Get rid of them before the seed mature and spread.
Please email us too if you know of moth plant flowers coming out now - help us control the vines before the nasty pods form.
There's a lot of privet trees around Taurus Cres - we are wondering about a community working bee one weekend in 2021. If you'd be interested please let us know (same email as above). Privet blossom makes some people really miserable - so even if you don't suffer yourself, please get in touch.
For more info about controlling pest plants in your street or your local park, go to www.pestfreekaipatiki.org.nz... - click on the link below to the Forest & Bird Weed Control Guide. Next Monday will be the last hit squad for 2020 - if you can see any big moth plant sites in flower, please email the location to us or report it on the EcoTrack app.
