Incident in Massey

John Riddell from Massey Birdwood Settlers Association

How tragic to see the event that has happened in Massey, outside the Badminton Court.
What is worse is that the event has happened at a time when Goodwill should be the order of the day.

How tragic to see the event that has happened in Massey, outside the Badminton Court.
What is worse is that the event has happened at a time when Goodwill should be the order of the day.
Perhaps good can come out of the tragic events and the community could come together to love and care for one another.
I am sure these types of events are not Massey, not Auckland, not even NZ.
It is up to us all to come together, to work together to prevent these events from happening in the future.

It needs development not into housing but a modern new shopping centre with café bars, and similar acting as a meeting place for locals. The Association is concerned about the fact that Massey residents are paying $1.89 for a litre of 91 petrol yet in on Swanson Road the price is $1.81. The area has a good percentage of homes with good views and a nice ambiance. New housing is being built down Moire Road. The fact is we do not need to take second best. Westgate is not our local shopping centre and is a dying shopping centre. The area has a great rugby club, an athletics club and a great park. We can be the best. The Association has written to the local board asking for its help to put pressure on the owners of Royal Heights shopping centre to turn the centre into the centre of the future. It is great to see residents who are keen to a great shopping centre that will become a focal point of the area with a lovely park bordering the centre for people to enjoy.
