Fatal crash on SH5
Just after 6am this morning, Tuesday, 20 August, Police were informed of a crash involving a truck and a ute.
The collision occurred between the cross roads of High Level Road and Wairango Road of SH5, Iwitahi. Emergency services are responding at the scene.
Four people are reported to be injured - two people have serious injuries and two with moderate injuries.
Waka Kotahi Waikato/Bay of Plenty have advised that SH5 is CLOSED between Taupo & Napier & will remain closed for some time as NZ Police undertake their investigation. No detour is available so delaying travel is necessary.
