FEATHERSTON BOIL WATER NOTICE

The Team from Wellington Water

All drinking water in Featherston must be boiled for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.

This weekend’s unusually high rainfall has caused surface water to enter the Boar Bush reservoir, which has contaminated the water supply. As a precaution, people in Featherston should boil their water before use, as this is the best way to make water safe.

This boil water advisory is in effect immediately until further notice. We will provide an update as soon as possible.

Boiling will kill all disease-causing organisms. Follow these steps on how to properly boil water:
1. Bring water to a rolling boil (where bubbles appear in the centre and do not disappear when the water is stirred) for one minute or boil a full electric jug until it switches off
2. Cool water (do not use ice cubes to do this) and pour into clean container with a lid
3. Refrigerate until needed

Babies, young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people who have weakened immune systems are more at risk of illness. If you get diarrhoea, vomiting and/or a fever, get advice from your doctor or contact Healthline (0800 611 116).

For more information contact South Wairarapa District Council on 06 306 9611 or go to www.wellingtonwater.co.nz....

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
