Rubbish collection day
Hi neighbours. Recently I had an awful fall while out walking along my street. I had to dodge all the rubbish bins on the footpath and walked on an unmown grass verge. I did not see concrete under the grass and fell face first landing on their driveway. It’s been three weeks now and still my knee is bruised and sore. I wrote to the council asking if there is still a need to put the bins on the footpath as the way they collect the bins now is different. A person collects them and loads them onto the truck to be emptied. In the past, the truck had an arm that lifted the bins onto the truck to be emptied. I asked why can’t the bins be put onto the grassed area. While I was waiting for hubby to come with the car to bring me home on that day, I reflected how difficult it could be for a mum with a stroller and children in tow possibly collecting children from school. They would either have to walk on the grass or on to the road. Pleased I don’t have an immobility scooter or wheelchair. .I am awaiting for an answer back from Auckland Council
