Dog walkers take care: Fur seal pups about

Kathryn from Lynmouth - Moturoa

There are seal pups hanging out on beaches again, so if you're taking your dogs to the beach please keep them close or on a leash. Saw a seal pup being mauled by two dogs on Back Beach yesterday - not a pretty site.
The pups are well camouflaged, often just look like rocks or driftwood until you get quite close. (The photo is of the pup mellowing out before the attack: can you see it?) Even if you do recognise them, you may think they're dead when they're not - they often seem to nap while their mum's are out fishing.
People are also welcome to report sightings here: www.hotspot.org.nz...
Thanks!

We definitely need homes that are fit to live in but there are often frustrations when it comes to getting consent to modify your own home.
Do you think changes need made to the current process for building consent? Share your thoughts below.
