Warning for chook owners
Hi people, just want to warn those that have free range chooks (not fully inclosed) in the top of Dodson Valley area, that we have had a resident Falcon taking a shine to our poor chooks and have killed 2 in the last week. We are now rehoming our chooks along with chook house etc for the safety and care of the remaining eight.
Falcons are protected so please, do not say shoot it. This is very upsetting for us but just want to warn others.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
