KidsFest - A Fresh Look At Water

Lincoln Envirotown Coordinator from Lincoln Envirotown

Come on a journey from a raindrop to our rivers. Discover the different natural features that water provides including the animals and plants that live in and around it. Find out why it is so important and how to look after it.

Make all these discoveries through exciting craft and science activities and a trip through the customary tunnel.

The Lincoln High School Sustainability Council have devised several craft activities and simple science experiments for our annual KidsFest Event. This year children are invited to explore fresh water through hands on interactive craft and science, they will learn about the life to be found on and in our water and the importance of this precious resource. This craft morning is truly a community experience with the older students getting as much out of it through their organizing and mentoring as the younger ones doing the activities and the learning.

Lincoln Envirotown Trust has prided itself as a provider of free or koha events to make them accessible for all members of the community. However, due to the high numbers attending this event in recent years we now charge for tickets to this event so that it remains enjoyable and safe for all.

Poll: Pedestrian access is being extended to the Ōtakaro Avon River - good idea?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Pedestrian access from one of Christchurch’s favourite streets is being extended all the way to the Ōtakaro Avon River. This new 12m-wide pathway will give you a direct, easy route from the street to the river promenade ... perfect for a stroll, a coffee run, or just soaking up the riverside vibes.

We want to know: In your view, what makes a city people-friendly?
What else should our urban areas be doing to support better community connections?

Curious about the full plans? You can check them out here.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
