Free Adult ballet classes
7pm on Mondays at Solway School Hall. 40 minute ballet class for adults new to ballet or returning after a long break. No kids, spectators, filming or photography will be allowed in the class. You can spend 40 mins not thinking about the stresses of life. First class on Monday 12 April then returning after school holidays on Monday 3 May. The hall has air con so comfort temp all year round. No special clothing or shoes needed, stretchy clothing and socks are fine. The class will start slowly and we do the same exercises every week. Volunteers will be scouring the foreshore, riverbanks, and islands for rubbish on Saturday the 13th as part of the Clean Up the Hutt event.
This initiative helps stop plastic from reaching our oceans and makes our waterways cleaner and safer for everyone.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
