Sunset Alignment on Historic Kopu Bridge

Carolyn from Thames

If you love sunsets, don’t miss the first ever Historic Kōpū Bridge Sunset Alignment on Friday 26th February. Many ancient structures, such as England’s Stonehenge, were built to capture the sun’s rays during the summer solstice - the longest day. Here in Thames Kōpū, the setting sun’s rays will shine directly down the Historic Kōpū Bridge’s 463 metres on Friday 26th February. Sunset is at 8.01pm. Bring your camera! Bring your picnic! Join us for a brilliant, once-a-year photoshoot. The bridge is wheelchair accessible. This is a free event, but a koha/donation is always welcome. Gates will be open during the day from 7am and will remain open, weather permitting, until 8.30pm.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
