Best and worst of times during Queenstown summer without overseas visitors
It has been the best of times and the worst of times in Queenstown this summer.
With international borders closed, the number of visitors has plummeted, businesses are struggling for survival and workers are losing hours.
Accommodation providers are expected to see their hotels, motels and guest houses 80 per cent empty over the next month.
But when the sun is shining the lake and mountains are perfect, car parks are aplenty and there is no queue at foodie hotspot Fergburger, a far cry from normal.
