Neighbourly Good Sorts: The Independence Collective
Independent beer makers the Independence Collective (who also call themselves Change Maker) are finalists in this years Attitude Awards.
The Attitude Awards are a nationally televised event celebrating the achievements and successes of New Zealanders living with disabilities.
And if anyone has the right attitude it is Janie Tutton, Nathan Martin, Cameron Stichbury and Neville Pugh.
All four have intellectual disabilities but that does not stop them from running a successful brewing business.
For Collective staff, finding employment was a struggle.
One woman took about 30 CVs around Kāpiti and didn’t receive a single reply before being hired at the brewery.
The Independence Collective is based in Kāpiti and is a finalist in the section celebrating entrepreneurship.
The 2020 black tie gala ceremony will be held on the evening of Wednesday 2nd December in Auckland.
