Former council staffer steals more than $26,000 from charity and Selwyn council
A former Selwyn District Council staff member bought a new car on the same day she stole $7000 from a charity organisation’s bank account.
Lisa Elaine Larkin, who stole more than $26,000 through unauthorised and fraudulent transactions, told a judge on Wednesday that if she could go back, she would have “done things differently”.
Larkin, 52, was sentenced to nine months of home detention in the Christchurch District Court after earlier pleading guilty to two representative charges of theft by a person in a special relationship, and one of using forged documents.
The offending happened over five years after Larkin was employed as a community development adviser by the council in November 2012.
