Georgina Beyer honoured at investiture ceremony
Former Carterton Mayor Georgina Beyer was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit at a ceremony on Government House on Monday.
The world's first transgender mayor and MP was recognised for services to LGBTIQA+ rights in the Queen’s Birthday honours.
She first rose to prominence as the mayor of Carterton in 1995.
