Knitting presentation
On Saturday, 24 October at 3pm (Labour weekend), I am giving a presentation about knitting in New Zealand in the lounge of St Paul's Church on Tennyson Street. This is beside the Municipal Theatre. After the presentation, there will be a sale of vintage knitting patterns from a few decades and a few knitted items. Entry to this event will cost $2. Christine of Wool n Things in Onekawa has two apple boxes of patterns and they will be priced with consideration for the current economic climate so there will be some great buying to be had. The knitted items are made locally and it's a great opportunity to support local craftspeople and get some Christmas presents.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
