Parrot type bird flying free around Chelsea View Dr area

Alison from Chatswood

Hi - I keep seeing quite a large parrot type bird flying along the valley above Chelsea View Drive (I'm up on Balmain Road looking down) - it then heads off towards the primary school as far as I can tell. It calls sort of like a parrot and it's dark coloured, although I mostly see it almost in silouette, so can't see exactly what colour it is. I saw it today in profile as it flew and it's got a big hooked beak and it actually looked like a kea. Has anyone else seen it, or know if it belongs to someone or where it might have come from? There are no large pet birds listed as missing on the internet that match.
On doing a bit more research just now I wonder if it's a kaka. I hope someone can confirm!

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
