Clear leaves away from stormwater drains before heavy rain
Heavy rain and blocked stormwater drains = surface flooding đ§đ
So moving into autumn which typically brings heavy rain, alongside leaves falling and blocking drains, means our crews will be busy responding to flooding events - much like they were at the end of March.
You can help to reduce the amount of flooding by giving the drains in your street or on your property a sweep every now and then.
Easter weekend is looking a bit wet, so while youâre at home during this lockdown, why not get out and clear leaves and rubbish from on and around stormwater sumps?

Garage Sale this Saturday - Tools, Beds, Fridge & more
Having a big clear out this Saturday to get rid of some things we arenât using anymore. Everything is priced to sell and Iâm open to reasonable offers on the bigger stuff.
When: Saturday, 3rd Jan 2026
Time: Starts at 8am - please no early birds!
Where: Okato Place, Just look for the signs
Appliances: Fridge and a washing machine (both work fine, just donât need them).
Furniture: A single bed and a double bed. Also have some china cabinets. A big ild school desk and a small one
Tools: A good pile of old toolsâlots of stuff for someone who likes to tinker.
Kitchenware: Plenty of plates, cups, and glassware.
Everything is first come, first served. Please bring a truck or a friend to help if youâre interested in the beds or the fridge!
