Getting tested.

Tony from Masterton District

Hi Wairarapa on day 4 of lockdown. I know your all doing what Jacinda asked and staying home and we're all grateful. Wasn't it clever of her to organise a storm to keep us all inside.

I have a request on behalf of the Wairarapa medical centres to help us all out.

If any of you have unexpectedly developed the following symptoms:

fever,
dry cough,
shortness of breath
sore throat,
and fatigue, or
flu like symptoms or
loss of smell (without a blocked nose)

WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU.

A blocked nose and cough are not symptoms of Covid 19, but occur with a common cold. If you have this you'll be fine. Just take paracetamol and ride it out. The cold weather may also have stirred up some people's asthma. We also need to hear from you to make sure we keep you well during this pandemic, but you probably don't need a swab.

Can you pass this around friends and family and encourage people with these symptoms to discuss it with their doctor. I'm happy if people are clever on other social media eg Whatsapp, Instagram etc for this message to be copied and posted.

Thanks
