Billboard launching early campaign for Dunedin mayoralty gets voted out
A cheeky mayoral election sign may have included tinsel but it attracted the attention of the Christmas Grinch.
"I've been smacked over the hands for it," John Guthrie said.
The sign promoted his tongue-in-cheek Dunedin mayoral bid for 2022 and included the memorable slogan 'Already has driver's licence'.
But on Tuesday his campaign ran foul of the Christmas spirit – or at least a local bylaw.
