Dad and three kids 'homeless' after house fire, a day before his birthday
Friends of a man who lost almost everything in a house fire on his birthday are rallying to help him start again.
Dan McLellan, a father of three, was at his rented Woodend home when his house was engulfed in flames on Thursday night. He had been due to celebrate his 42nd birthday the following day.
McLellan had insurance but is waiting for his claim to be processed.
"The only thing that upset him was he lost all his photographs and he will never be able to replace them," friend Damian Allan said.
Allan has set up a Givealittle page to raise money for the family.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
