Five things Dunedin is still famous for after losing the title of world's steepest street
Baldwin Street has been cruelly stripped of its lofty title after the Guinness World Records ruled that Fford Pen Llech - a street in the coastal Welsh town of Harlech - possessed a slightly more thigh-burning gradient.
While it is feared the demotion may result in some international visitors striking Dunedin off their bucket lists, the uphill attraction is by no means the southern city's sole claim to fame. Click the link below or watch the video for five things Dunedin can still boast about.
Say goodbye to tyre waste
About 40% of the 6.5 million tyres Kiwis use every year are recycled, repurposed, or used as tyre-derived fuel. But the rest end up in landfills, stockpiled or dumped.
The good news is now there’s an easy solution to all that tyre waste. It’s called Tyrewise and is New Zealand’s first national tyre recycling scheme.
Tyrewise ensures that tyres in Aotearoa New Zealand are recycled or repurposed properly, saving millions from going to the landfill.
