Take The Time To Talk

Alistair from Bay Cremation Care

This week is the Funeral Directors Association of NZ's "Take The Time To Talk" campaign..
Do your children, grandchildren and friends know the defining moments of your life? Do they know the day you laughed so hard you cried? Do they know your proudest achievement or your favourite teacher? Do they know that when you grew up you wanted to be an astronaut?
The sharing of your life story isn’t something that has to be done in your absence, don’t leave it up to someone else to tell your story – do it now, when you can enjoy being a part of the conversation.
Take the Time to Talk is a campaign by the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ) to encourage people to spend time sharing their life stories and talking about final farewells.
We plan for so many events in our life, but sadly New Zealanders don’t appear so keen to plan for their funeral. As Funeral Directors, every day we see the struggle families have when trying to make the decisions which will best honour their loved one’s life.
Why not take one piece of stress away from your family by letting them know your story and wishes ahead of time. “Share your stories with your loved ones to keep your memories alive - Take the Time to Talk - A meaningful funeral supports healthy grieving".
Feel free to contact the team at Bay Cremation Care if you would like to discuss anything to do with pre-planning your farewell

Unelected commissioners recommend they stay in power

Pat from Welcome Bay

Interesting responses to my post. Two in particular piqued my interest. Suzanne Williams and her comments about whinging about everything-Suzanne it is not about whinging. It is more about raising concerns about an undemocratic regime forced on us and then seeing the commissioners wanting to keep their sinecure. Greg Reardon "I vote to keep the commissioners"-Greg the point is that you do not have a vote. Look I get it-democracy is imperfect. Some of our previously elected councillors were rubbish-ego driven and feeding from the trough (not unlike our commissioners). But it is what we have got. It is better to have an imperfect democracy than an unelected and unaccountable cartel of commissioners who say "we know what is good for you".

Good Warm Home Loan ANZBank

Anna from Mount Maunganui

Just advising that anyone who is renovating should apply for this loan - even if they think they don’t need it. With the escalating costs AND hidden problems that you may come across you can go well over your budget and find this 1% interest loan useful. It is for 3 years and specifically targets items like double glazing

You don’t see this Ioan on the front page of their website and have to read carefully terms ad conditions.

It is very difficult to apply for after you have purchased items, so needs to be applied for in the quoting stage. If anyone has had success in getting their loan halfway through their renovation I would love to hear from you

On this ANZAC Day, let's take a moment to remember and honor the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

Tell us who are you honouring today. Whether it's a story from the battlefield or a memory of a family member who fought in the war, we'd love you to share your stories below.
