Givealittle page for Christchurch Muslim community raises nearly $3 million as donations continue to flood in

Brian from New Lynn

Over 42,000 people have donated to the mass Givealittle fund set up for the families affected by the Christchurch twin terror attacks, reaching a close $3 million. The Givealittle fund raiser began on March 15 and has since raised $2,825,128. A statement on the website says, “We've been overwhelmed with donations - more than we thought possible - and we now need to create more formal processes than would be needed for the much smaller fund we expected this page would create.” 49 people have been confirmed dead, with two children in ICU and several people still being treated for injuries. The terrorist attack that has shaken the nation took place on Friday afternoon, affecting two of Christchurch’s mosques. All donations received through the fund will be ring-fenced to provide resources and support to those affected by this horrific event, Victims Support says.
