Wetvember drives South Otago A&P Show indoors on Saturday

Good times had by all at the South Otago A&P Show that had to go indoors on Saturday because of the Wetvember storm on Tuesday-Wednesday which turned the grounds into a lake.

Highlights included the newly-crowned South Otago A&P Show Queen Bayley Coates, 21, of Balclutha hanging out with the 1968 Show Queen Annette Meyer, of Alexandra, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Show Queen event:

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
