Come and catch up with friends old and new and celebrate Christmas early at Awapuni Racecourse, Palmerston North. A guest speaker will talk about the racecourse while you enjoy a tour of the weigh-in rooms and the birdcage. Enjoy the dulcet tones of Wayne Heath and his easy listening tunes- you may even take to the dance floor! *Bring a thoughtful gift ($5.00 minimum value) for Santa's sack and label it male/female or either. Departs Farriers, Masterton 8:15 am or the Tranzit Travel Centre, Masterton at 8:30 am. Returns Masterton 4:30 pm. Price $92.00 pp includes coach, Christmas lunch, first drink, entertainment and tour.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
