LETTER SENT TO KCDC CEO
Hi Wayne
This has been brought to my attention by many in the Community and after inspecting this issue myself. I see indeed there is rust staining all the new pavers. I see also that a couple have been dented/damaged. You will see by the flyer I put out this was to make the Community at Large aware of what you are spending money on which does not need to be spent at that sort of level. The economy in the area is shakie to say the least, small businesses are struggling right across the board. If you were personally in business would you spend this sort of money - I guess not.
Were all the elected Councillors informed of this expenditure?
At $2100 per planter - was this a thought thru expenditure? Whoever authorized this purchase, did they do their homework? Here is the Mayor promoting the Menzshed - why were they not considered to make wooden planter? I doubt they would have cost $2100 each, I think for that price we might have got all of them made!
Given the amount of money spent - surely the person spending our hard earned money - should get the best possible deal at the best possible price - NOT WHAT IN TRENDIE!
What benefit are these planters to the Community at Large, we have far more important issues to address - like reducing Debt, staff levels, no willy nilly decisions which cost the rate payer in the end. Surely just because there is a budget - you dont have to spend it if you dont have too surely.etc.
Please see that this is sent to all Councillors - so they know the feeling in the Community. I for one will be continue to work in the Community pushing for honesty, transparency, and accountability.
Thank you.
Regards
Dale Evans
