Fantastic News! Cholmondeley Children's Centre is one of five extremely worthy finalists in the organisation category of the 2018 AMI Community Grants. And we are the only South Island charity in this category! Last year we provided 1403 admissions to 519 children from Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. This is the highest number of children in our 93-year history, and the demand for our service continues to grow. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
