This month Lynette Shum will talk about the way oral history can enhance your family history research. She will discuss methodology, interview techniques, equipment, and ethics. As well as carrying out oral history interviews yourself you may also be able to access recordings that are held in collections such as the Alexander Turnbull Library.
Lynette is the Oral History Advisor in the Alexander Turnbull Library’s Outreach Services team and can give training, support and advice to oral historians. She has also used oral history extensively in her own research on Wellington’s Chinese community.
