Wonderful Mexican Cafe

Margaret from Birkenhead

Hi Neighbours,
My husband and I just had dinner at The Burrito House, a new Mexican cafe opposite the Birkenhead Post Office. (Formerly the Tea Shop, and it still doubles up as that during the day.) It's super clean, very reasonably priced and the food was as good as any I had in the 40 years I lived in the USA. Please support Bobbie in his new endeavour. He is trying hard to bring something new to Birkenhead and it's a struggle I'm sure to become established. He's applied for a liquour license, but believe me, it's still possible to enjoy a wonderful meal without alcohol.
Thanks!

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
